With a face that only a Mutter could love, the Q8 breezed on into Audi’s lineup to fill the void that apparently needed to be filled somewhere between the Q5 and Q7? Or above the Q7? I don’t know. But this thing is supposed to be a crosscoupe or something in the same vein as the Mercedes GLE coupe, BMW X6 etc. The platform it rides on are shared with its more upscale corporate cousins the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! briefly touched on the price in its on hand review back in January, so for those that care here’s the price break down.

There are 3 different trim levels to choose from: Premium, Premium Plus and top of the line Prestige. All models share the same 3 liter turbocharged 335 horse V6 and Quattro.

Basic, basic wheels

The Premium trim starts at $67,400. Its standout standard features:

20" 5-spoke wheels with 275/50 all-season tires

MMI® Navigation plus with MMI® touch response and virtual cockpit

Gray Brown Fine Grain Ash Natural inlays

Panoramic sunroof

Parking system plus with rearview camera

For a nearly 70 thousand dollar car, the base wheels are basic looking as hell and look like something a spare tire rim would look like. But they are 20” so there’s that..

There are 9 exterior colors to choose from:

Carrara White (no charge)

Night Black (no charge)

Cobra Beige Metallic ($595)

Dragon Orange Metallic ($595)

Florett Silver Metallic ($595)

Galaxy Blue Metallic ($595)

Glacier White Metallic ($595)

Ora Black Metallic ($595)

Samuari Gray Metallic ($595)

I added Dragon Orange, one of the colors the car debuted in. There are 2 wheel options. Well one. Aside from the standard 20” option there is a 21” option for $1,000 with a split spoke design that looks better than the standard wheels. I choose these as well. That rounds out the exterior options.

Interior wise there are there are 4 different leather (real leather!) color choices that combine with different headliner and carpet colors:

Black seats with Rock Gray stitching, Black dash and carpet and Lunar Silver headliner

Okpi Brown seats (which is like a milk Chocolate Brown), Black dash and carpet and Lunar Silver headliner

Pando Gray seats with Rock Gray cross stitching, Black dash and carpet, Lunar Silver headliner

Saiga Beige seats, Black carpet and dash, Lunar Silver headliner

Weirdly and surprisingly, Audi seems to have taken a page from Burger King with letting customers have it there way because every single leather color is available with all colors. You could get the bright ass Dragon Orange exterior chocolate brown leather interior. Weird but cool. There are also 3 dash inlays: Eucalyptus, Fine grain ash and High gloss gray oak. Only the gray oak seems to work with the color selected.

There’ s one main option package for this trim level. The Convenience Package costs $850 and includes:

Audi phone box with wireless charging and signal booster

Audi side assist with Rear cross traffic assist and Vehicle exit warning

Heated, auto-dimming, power-folding exterior mirrors with memory

Audi pre sense® rear

I added this, mostly for the wireless charger and signal booster, which if its what I’m assuming it is, would help with cell service when traveling or in low signal areas.

There’ s a lesser Cold Weather package for $600 that comes with heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Didn’ t add this because it wouldn’ t get used much. There’ s a towing package that ups the towing from measly 1,467 lbs to a truck like 7,700 lbs. Other than those the only other options are a dvd player for a bargain price of $100, rear side airbags which at this price in this day and age seem like robbery considering these should be standard equipment (my old Sonic had side airbags standard) for $350 and a black cloth headline for no charge. All in, my Q8 Premium rang in at $71,190.

Q8 Premium Plus shown with Year One Package

The next trim level up, Premium Plus, starts at just $210 more than where the Premium trim stopped with the options I selected, at $71,400. It comes with better standard features in my opinion:

21" 5-spoke-W design wheels with 285/45 all-season tires

3D Bang & Olufsen surround sound system

Convenience package

Four-zone climate control

Top view camera system (front, rear, and side views) with Virtual 360 surround view

This trim has all the same exterior colors, but adds 2 more: Navarra Blue metallic and Daytona Gray Pearl. Bother are $595 options, but require the selection a Year One Package, red brake calipers and 22” Audi Sport wheels riding on all season tires. More on those options in a bit. Suffice to say, selecting either one of these adds on $2,650 in options. It gets trickier from here.

The aforementioned 2 colors require the Year One Package and the brakes and wheels. But the Year One Package can be selected with any of the colors except Dragon Orange, Galaxy Blue, Samuari Gray. I choose Black since this package looks good with it.

Speaking of the Year One Package, for $2,250 it comes with:

22" Audi Sport® 5-V-spoke star design Anthracite wheels with 285/40 all-season tires

Black Optic exterior kit, including roof rails and mask

S line illuminated door sills

Red brake calipers (not with Dragon Orange or Galaxy Blue exterior color)

S line fender badges

S line front and rear bumpers

Its pretty much an S Line package.

Interior wise every thing is the same color and inlays wise. It would be nice if some kind of red or sport seats had been offered. But no dice.

This trim also has a few different options as well. There’ s a Drives Assistance package for a kind of steep $2,750 that comes with:

Audi adaptive cruise assist with Traffic jam assist, Turn assist and Predictive efficiency assist

Audi active lane departure warning with Emergency assist

Intersection assistant

Traffic sign recognition

I added this. For the same price there is also an Adaptive Chassis Package. It has adaptive air suspension and something you don’ t really see anymore on vehicles, 4 wheel steering. I added this as well. HD Matrix design led headlights are $1,200. Summer tires are an option here as well but at no charge. You can also get an all leather dash with contrast stitching for $1,250. I added this as well because at this price, why not. All in, A Q8 Premium Plus with all the packages I selected rings in at an eye watering $83,345.

Q8 Prestige

The top of the Q8 line, the Prestige, actually starts $6,795 less than what the Premium Plus trim topped out at. It starts at $76.550. It builds on the previous trim by coming standard with:

HD Matrix-design LED headlights with LED taillights and animation

Head-up display

Driver assistance package

Leather dashboard with contrast stitching

Alu touch-sensitive interior buttons

There isn’ t much different here. It has the same exterior colors, same Year One package. Things get slightly different inside. This trim sees the availability of comfort seats. But they can only be selected with a design selection or a Luxury package. The design selection makes available a Sarder Brown leather color for the comfort seats. But this is only if you select the design option. Its also no cost as well.

The aforementioned Luxury Package costs a whopping $5,950. It adds:

Light Alcantara® headliner

Dual pane glass

Individual contour seats with ventilation and front massage function

Extended leather package (center console and door armrests)

Passenger seat memory

Valcona leather

I added this for the dual pane glass roof. Honestly I wish this was a stand alone option. But this doesn’t seem like 6 grand worth of options to me.

This trim has a few different options as well. There is a no cost Black alcantara headliner, the Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system for $5 grand. I added this, night vision with pedestrian detection for $2,500. With all the same options selected, as well as things like the sound system and pedestrian detection, a Q8 Prestige rings in the register at nearly 6 figures, $96,745. That’s just under $1700 a month financed for 60 months at 4.9% APR with $9,674 down. Insane. But this seems to be the going rate for these weird crosscoupe things that the Germans invented. I’m surprised the Americans haven’t jumped on the bandwagon. Yet.

Seen a few in person.  It’s damn sexy.  But we were in the market for a three row, and it’s extremely expensive.

Way to expensive. You can get more room and the ability to actually carry cargo for cheaper. Im not sure who they think this is for. Everyone that wants something like this already drives a GLE or X6

Should be at least 1500-1600. Probably more.
